Honeywell is looking for a highly qualified Test Engineer with significant laboratory experience in a university or industrial physics/ engineering setting. The ideal candidate will have a broad and deep understanding of basic physics and high technology principles and practices, together with laboratory method and equipment experience.

The successful candidate will be an energetic self-starter interested in learning new skills, willing to take on new challenges and driving to decision making. Also, the successful candidate will process critical thinking and problem solving skills.

In this role, you will prepare and install optical equipment such as lasers, mirrors, lenses, waveplates, polarizers and cavities onto optical benches. Align and maintain beam-paths; test optical assemblies using standard lab equipment such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers and phase noise analyzers, polarimeters, wavemeters, etc. Prepare/ install/ maintain mechanical components such as vacuum systems, valves, pumps, gauges, traps, etc. And prepare/ install/ maintain cryogenic systems such as liquid He, N2, flow cryostats.

20 Set up, maintain and perform laboratory experiments

20 Execute engineering change orders for hardware and software

20 Write, debug, and apply software

20 Perform testing, trimming, troubleshooting, component selection, and rework

20 Design, construction, & troubleshooting of electronic, optical, vacuum/cryogenic systems

Must Have:

•Bachelor’s degree in physics or relevant engineering field such as Optical, Electrical, Mechanical or Software

•U.S. citizenship is required in order to obtain and maintain government security clearance.

•Strong academic foundation in physics

•Direct hands-on laboratory experience building, maintaining, trouble shooting and operating electronic systems, complex optical systems and/or vacuum/ cryogenic systems and magnetic field studies and equipment.

We Value:

•Demonstrated experience in the construction and/ or operation of electromagnetic electronics, equipment and apparatus.

•Experience in using multi-physics simulation tools for designing and analyzing electromagnetic systems.

•Experience with wet/ and of dry cryogenic systems.

•Experience with design, assembly and testing of high and ultra-high vacuum environments.

•Strong organizational and communication skills

•Able to think critically, solve problems, and be a strong team player with intelligent risk taking skills.

•Experience in a research and development laboratory setting

•Strong interpersonal and team skill

•Strong computer skills including PC literacy in MS Office.

•Experience in performing system audits to ensure intended system functionality, operation and performance requirements are achieved.
