The Controls Engineer implements PLC Software Projects, as an Engineering Team Member, for an integrated system or sub-system. Provides the PLC code design, planning and reporting and technical management of the project for the PLC Controls Engineering portion of the project in addition to technical

implementation.

Attends weekly team meetings: review scheduled tasks/timelines

Contributes to test plans (Internal, In-House, Site, Commissioning, andAcceptance).

Reviews customer SOW/RFP/RFQ and specifications as requested.

Attends PLC software related pricing, concept, and customer review meetings as requested.

Attends all project related turnover meetings & functional design reviews; review proposal and C&E requirements specification/gap list.

Fully understands scope, budgets, and schedules for the project.

Reviews initial project schedule and identify gaps or changes needed.

Documents and communicates overall system level concerns or questions.

Calls initial System Design Review and as engineering project team (integrated projects), generates any requirements documentation needed (WCS, MC, etc.), as requested.

Identifies gaps, creates gap lists, and communicates with project team; resolves any cost conflicts in coordination with C&E / PM / CSS.

Creates system architecture, description of operation, functional specifications, and interface documents (Host, MHE, WCS, Cranes, Scanners, etc).

Modifies, adds, maintains, and validates project specifications while maintaining as sold scope.

Understands and communicates project phasing (Tie-Ins, PLC SW, Cut-ins) as a project team member (integrated projects).

Defines any SOPER work required for the project; contributes to definition of SOPER, including testing requirements and scheduling milestones and tracking completion of any SOPER work within the project timeline.

Schedules PLC Code reviews and audits.

Creates detailed task lists, assigns resources and timelines; audits, maintains, and reports progress on a regular basis.

Attends weekly team meetings: reviews scheduled tasks/budgets/risks.

Coordinates with PLC Controls Principal Engineer to determine base code version, and develops project code, configures, and sets up logic (Includes Screens, Reports, HMI, etc...).

Maintains and tracks issues list, reporting to Supervisor / Manager as required.

Performs PLC Code reviews and audits.

Completes all in-house testing and emulation.

Executes all test plans on-site, both internal and customer acceptance/BUAT/UAT/FAT.

Provides site/field reports daily, including progress, issues, and next steps, as requested.

Communicates, manages, and brings closure all internal & customer created issue lists.

Calls and facilitates CSS turnover meeting. (ONLY if PM does not call meeting); ensures all turnover PLC Controls Engineering documentation is complete & stored in proper location.

Schedules and facilitates lessons learned post-mortem engineering review; focuses on technical aspects of the project and what can be done to improve, as requested.

May be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

YOU MUST HAVE
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering
  • Three to five years of PLC Controls Engineering experience ina similar position (or equivalent experience) required showing progressiveincrease in responsibility.
  • Ability to travel 35-40% (Domestic)
