The fundamental task of a palletizer is to orient and organize a stream of cases into pre-formatted layers and reliably build a pallet load from these layers, at high speed. The palletizer uses an array of electrical, pneumatic and mechanical devices to accomplish this task. Controlling these devices and coordinating them with the flow of cases through the palletizer is the fundamental task of the palletizer control system. Testing, commissioning and troubleshooting the palletizer and its control system is the primary task of the Palletizer Commissioning Engineer. To accomplish this task, the following skills and abilities are needed.

The commissioning engineer must be able to learn the basics of case handling (how cases react as they flow through the palletizer). The commissioning engineer must take a meaningful role in troubleshooting discussions with the engineers.

Field testing and commissioning Intelligrated palletizers and palletizer modifications.

Shop testing Intelligrated palletizers.

Submitting trip reports that accurately detail the results of the trip and the issues encountered.

Conducting customer training (operator, supervisor and maintenance), when needed.

Execute all required tasks on schedule and within allotted hours.

Field testing and commissioning new Intelligrated palletizers and palletizer modifications per established procedures and training.

Shop testing new Intelligrated palletizers.

Managing time and the testing/commissioning tasks to meet the Go Live Date or Factory Demonstration Date

Continually assessing field and shop commissioning methods and procedures to identify areas for improvement

Establishing and maintaining excellent lines of communication with the customer field representative, the Intelligrated Project Manager and Project Engineers

Submitting trip reports that accurately detail the results of the trip and the issues encountered.

Conducting customer training (operator, supervisor and maintenance), when needed.

YOU MUST HAVE
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or skilled electricians or electronics specialists with working knowledge of microprocessors, PLC-equipment and data communication, pneumatics and electronics.
  • Excellent troubleshooting ability.
  • Mechanical aptitude is very important.
  • Excellent communication skills and team oriented.
  • Experience working directly with customers is essential.
  • Be able to travel for 2 to 3 weeks at a time
WE VALUE
  • Ability to troubleshoot Ethernet communications between Allen-Bradley PLCs, PanelViews, VFDs, and similar devices.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley safety PLCs and safety I/O.
  • Ability to work with Allen-Bradley PLCs and PanelViews.
  • Experience with industrial robots, especially Fanuc or Motoman robots, is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills. Must be able to interact well with office, plant, installation and customer personnel.
  • The ability to travel, approximately 60% of the work for this position will be done in the field at customer locations. Most trips will be one to two weeks long.
